The GDS 550 Trigger Survey System is designed to operate
in conjuction with a portable flame ionisation detector,
collecting and monitoring a continuous representative
sample of the atmosphere traversed by the survey vehicle.
The system filters unwanted higher hydrocarbons from
the sample and provides an audible and visual alarm
to methane levels above a pre-set threshold. The GDS
550 is a one man survey system and designed to meet
the changing demands and strategies of British Gas Transco
and other gas network providers.
The complete system can be fitted to any normal vehicle
within a matter of minutes. The lightweight boom is
fastened to the front valance, the trigger kit and FID
unit being securely retained on the front passenger
seat using the vehicle safety belt.
Power to the system is normally picked up through the
cigar lighter fitting, resulting a very fast installation
and response time to any reported leak or routine survey.
