Procedure for the repair of items
Repair/Calibration – Goods Return

Please find below the procedure for returning items to GDS:

1. Prior to returning item(s), an Equipment Tracking Number (ETN) must be obtained from GDS – please complete the form located here: https://www.gds-technologies.co.uk/services/in-house-service-repair-returns/ and upon receipt, GDS will process the ETN.

2. At the point of ETN issue, GDS will discuss and advise whether the item(s) should be returned or disposed of. In some cases, it is not economically viable to return all items. For example, a photograph of the item may be requested instead, or delay return to enable a batch delivery.

3. If a return is agreed, The Buyer should arrange, at their expense, a courier/postal return service (economy service) which includes insurance to cover for the full amount of the item(s). GDS are not responsible for loss / damage of returned items during transit.
a. Carriage charges to and from GDS for repairs under a warranty claim will be at The Buyer’s expense until the warranty claim is proven at which point a carriage charge credit will be issued – see C103 Terms & Conditions of Sale for further information.

4. Items must be labelled with the ETN number.

5. Items sent from outside the UK, the delivery note must be marked as follows: “Items returned to manufacturer for temporary import and repair.”
This is for customs purposes. Any import tax charges will be met by The Buyer.

Warranty and non-Warranty Repairs

For warranty information and qualifying criteria, please see C103 Terms & Conditions of Sale.
Where items are determined by GDS to be within warranty, all repair work will be free of charge.
Where items are outside of warranty a quote will be issued, and authorisation required (in the form of a purchase order) before commencement of repair work. Quoted costs will be as follows:

Administration charge ‐ £18.84 per ‘out of warranty item’
Labour ‐ £68.64/hour

Calibration of Portable Monitors

The following costs include standard maintenance and calibration work and production of the associated documentation.

Not included are the cost of any parts required or the cost of special gases, these items will be in addition to the following charges.
